Five Reasons To Talk About Giftedness Beyond 18 Years Old
I tried to be normal once. Worst two minutes of my life.
Most gifted adults have lived their entire lives without understanding what makes them different. Are you a quick thinker? A complex thinker? Are you someone who doesn’t see things in black and white? Do you feel things intensely? Do you pursue excellence in all that you do? Are you often tired? If you answered yes to many of these, chances are, you are a gifted adult.
Definitions of professionalism and communication are easier to find and agree upon. It’s the gifted adult part of our trifecta in this conversation that causes the most raised eyebrows.
Ziad K. Abdelnour, Founder, President, and CEO of Blackhawk Partners Inc. said “I tried to be normal once. Worst two minutes of my life.”
In this mind-expanding video: Gifted Adults, an overdue chat, New Zealand-based, counselor, therapist, and coach, Maggie Brown, eloquently describes what giftedness looks like, and discusses five reasons she believes it is important to begin a conversation about giftedness beyond childhood.
Hint, we’re doing that here. Maggie is one of the pioneers and deliberate thinkers who noticed, early in her professional practice, that very little was understood or discussed about what happens to gifted humans after they turn 18 and step into work life, relationships, and the rest of their lives.
If you’ve ever questioned what makes you exceptional—even awesome, watch Maggie’s video here:
