From the first time I heard about "gifted" classrooms, I wondered why all classes weren't "enriched" and taught as if the children were gifted ... how do we know they're not? How do we know in how many ways it's possible to be gifted? What if we thought more about how to enliven the gifts in every person we meet? What if we treated ourselves as if we are each filled with unexplored gifts?

Thank you Joyce for sharing our belief that everyone is unique and brings something special into the world. What captures our attention is the science and evidence being uncovered in just the past 50 years about humans born with brains that have measurable traits, characteristics, and ways to interact with their environments. The word giftedness is used in neuroscience and in many other professions. Like any word, it can be misunderstood or used to tear down instead of build up each other. To your point, it is fascinating to get into the 150 or so characteristics, when combined, tell us more about the many ways to display giftedness.
