This really struck a chord today, on the eve of Independence Day. How is it possible that progress which often occurs in Washington at a snail's pace has moved so swiftly over the xourse of a few months to inflict lasting damage on so many people? "We the people..." has been eclipsed by a fervor among elected officials that ignores accountability, responsibility and justice.
I've been searching for this for a little bit - the phrase to describe the intentionality of the chaos being created - and you've nailed it: "flood the zone" fits what is happening. Too much happening too fast with no time for comprehension.
